Attikon ZH – Wegmüller offers customers the option to replace foam and styrofoam in packaging with corrugated cardboard. The Zurich-based manufacturer of wood and cardboard packaging for industrial goods can custom produce corresponding inserts. The sustainable packaging also saves packing time. Wegmüller AG aims to enable customers to ship their goods in packaging that can be easily disposed of worldwide. To achieve this, the Zurich-based manufacturer of wood and cardboard packaging for industrial goods replaces hard-to-dispose inserts made of foam or styrofoam with alternatives made of fully recyclable corrugated cardboard. The tailor-made packaging protects the transported industrial goods “optimally against transport stresses” such as shocks and impacts, Wegmüller states in a corresponding announcement. Another advantage of its packaging solutions mentioned by Wegmüller is the savings in time needed for packing and unpacking. The packaging manufacturer from Attikon can cut and mill the sustainable inserts according to customer specifications on a five-axis machine. The possibilities are virtually limitless, and small batch sizes are implemented as well as just-in-time orders. Upon request, the inserts and packaging can also be printed in four colors. “The demand for environmentally conscious packaging solutions is rising,” says Managing Director Marc Wegmüller in the announcement. “We have developed innovative manufacturing technologies and deliver safe and environmentally friendly packaging made of wood and corrugated cardboard.” The latter can be “disposed of worldwide without problems, unlike foam materials.” hs
